Open Water Course - PART-TIME & FULL-TIME: R3995

PART-TIME COURSE - A fantastic course scheduled for people working or at school!!!

Duration: 3 weeks

Phase 1 – Online Home Study – Register online and complete the bulk of the theory before the course start date.

Phase 2 – Orientation, Exams & Pool

Orientation & Exams are completed on Monday & Thursday evenings – These can be confirmed on the first evening

Pool Sessions are completed over the weekends and duration depends on number of students and the comfort level of each student at the end of each session.

Phase 3 – Open Water Dives

Dives are completed the third weekend weather permitting. The first 2 Open Water dives are shore entry done in Durban, and the last 2 are boat dives completed at the famous Aliwal Shoal launching from Umkomaas – or at Sodwana Bay on one of our scheduled weekends away (T&Cs Apply).

 

 

FULL-TIME COURSE - For students & those on leave during School Holidays!!!

Duration: 5 days - Start on the Monday and finish on the Friday – weather permitting!

Phase 1 – Online Home Study – Register online and complete the bulk of the theory before the course start date.

Phase 2 – Orientation, Exams & Pool

Orientation & Exams are completed on the first day or two of the course.

Pool Sessions are then done over the couple of days, however, duration depends on number of students and the comfort level of each student at the end of each session.

Phase 3 – Open Water Dives

Dives are completed the last 2 days of the course, weather permitting. The first 2 Open Water dives are shore entry done locally in Durban, and the last 2 are boat dives completed at the famous Aliwal Shoal launching from Umkomaas – or at Sodwana Bay on one of our scheduled weekends away (T&Cs Apply).

  • 29 Jan – 18 February 2018 – Part Time - Sodwana Qualifying
  • 12 – 18 February 2018 – Fulltime - Sodwana Qualifying
  • 5 - 25 March 2018 - Part Time - Aliwal Qualifying

*SODWANA OPTION: complete your qualifying dives at the amazing Sodwana Bay (Accommodation & Transport costs not included in course prices).

Open Water Course - PRIVATE: R4795 - A fantastic course for people requiring a more flexible schedule!!!

Duration: flexible

Phase 1 – Online Home Study – Register online and complete the bulk of the theory before the course start date.

Phase 2 – Orientation, Exams & Pool

Orientation & Exams are completed in the classroom. Let us know when you are available.

Pool Sessions are completed again when you are available. We use one of the many public pools depending on the season. The length of time is dependant on your ability and comfort in the water.

Phase 3 – Open Water Dives

The first 2 Open Water dives are shore entry done in Durban, and the last 2 are boat dives completed at the famous Aliwal Shoal launching from Umkomaas – or at Sodwana Bay if you prefer.

 

THE COURSE INCLUDES:

Online training & Manual  /  6 Lectures (except the Online Course)  /  5 Pool Sessions  /  4 Dives: 2 Shore Dives & 2 Aliwal Shoal Dives  /  Scuba Equipment: BCD, Regulator, Cylinder  / Logbook  /  Registration  &  Certification

COURSE EXCLUDES:

Medical (if required)  /  *Basic Equipment: mask, fins, snorkel, wetsuit, weightbelt  /  Entry to pools  /  Transport & accommodation if required / Dive Permit for MPA (Marine Protected Area) Aliwal Shoal & Sodwana Bay are both MPA’s. Permits are obtained from your local post office, using the same form as the fishing/mussel/crayfish permits. A one year permit costs approximately R95 and a one month permit costs R50.

* RENTAL GEAR AVAILABLE:

Basic Equipment may be hired at the following rates per person:

= R600 for everything for the duration of the course  /  = R300 for just wetsuit for the duration of the course

 

PLEASE NOTE REGARDING MPA PERMITS

A Permit is required by law to dive in a Marine Protected Area. An annual permit costs around R95 and can be purchased at most Post Offices (same as fishing, mussel and crayfish licenses).

A Temporary MPA Permit costs R 55-00 and can be purchased at the dive operator on the day or any post office – we don’t issue the permits.
