OPEN WATER DIVER

Start your diving experience with the entry level Open Water Diver Course. This course teaches you how to be a safe, competent and comfortable diver. Theory is completed online, and then we will run several workshops to ensure your understanding of the theory, tables, dive gear and so on before the written exam. Pool sessions will not only teach you how to dive, but how to be a safe diver. This particular course will be going to Sodwana Bay for the four qualifying dives (accommodation & transport not included).

PART-TIME COURSE - A fantastic course scheduled for people working or at school!!!

Duration: 2 weeks

Part Time Course:

Phase 1 – Online Home Study – Register online and complete the bulk of the theory before the course start date.

Phase 2 – Orientation, Exams & Pool

Orientation & Exams are completed on Monday & Thursday evenings – These can be confirmed on the first evening.

Pool Sessions are completed over the weekend and duration depends on number of students and the comfort level of each student at the end of each session.

Phase 3 – Open Water Dives

The dives will be completed at Sodwana Bay - weather permitting. We'll be doing 2 dives on the Saturday and 2 dives on Sunday before returning home.

FULL-TIME COURSE 

Duration: 5 - 7 days

Full Time Course: Start on the Monday and finishes on the Sunday at Sodwana – weather permitting!

Phase 1 – Online Home Study – Register online and complete the bulk of the theory before the course start date.

Phase 2 – Orientation, Exams & Pool

Orientation & Exams are completed on the first day or two of the course.

Pool Sessions are then done over the couple of days, however, duration depends on number of students and the comfort level of each student at the end of each session.

Phase 3 – Open Water Dives

The dives will be completed at Sodwana Bay - weather permitting. We'll be doing 2 dives on the Saturday and 2 dives on Sunday before returning home.

THE COURSE INCLUDES:

Online Manual & Training /  6 Lectures (except the Online Course)  /  5 Pool Sessions  /  4 Dives at Sodwana Bay  /  Scuba Equipment: BCD, Regulator, Cylinder  / Logbook  /  Registration  &  Certification

COURSE EXCLUDES:

Medical (if required)  /  *Basic Equipment: mask, fins, snorkel, wetsuit, weightbelt  /  Entry to pools  /  Transport & accommodation if required / Dive Permit for MPA (Marine Protected Area) Aliwal Shoal & Sodwana Bay are both MPA’s. Permits are obtained from your local post office, using the same form as the fishing/mussel/crayfish permits. A one year permit costs approximately R95 and a one month permit costs R50.

* RENTAL GEAR AVAILABLE:

Basic Equipment may be hired at the following rates per person:

= R600 for everything for the duration of the course  /  = R300 for just wetsuit for the duration of the course

PLEASE NOTE REGARDING MPA PERMITS

A Permit is required by law to dive in a Marine Protected Area. An annual permit costs around R95 and can be purchased at most Post Offices (same as fishing, mussel and crayfish licenses).

A Temporary MPA Permit costs R 55-00 and can be purchased at the dive operator on the day or any post office – we don’t issue the permits.
